On April 22nd, the 56th "World Earth Day", Linxia UNESCO Global Geopark Service Center, Guanghe County Service Center of Linxia UNESCO Global Geopark and Qijia Culture Museum jointly carried out a Science popularization activity in Guanghe West Street Community. The event aimed to enhance public awareness of environmental resource protection and disaster prevention and mitigation.

At the event site, staff from Linxia UNESCO Global Geopark Service Center delivered a lecture titled “Protecting Geological Heritage”, systematically explained the formation and evolution of geological wonders in the Linxia Basin, such as paleontological Fossil Groups and Danxia Landforms. Drawing on Linxia UNESCO Global Geopark's successful international accreditation in 2024, and emphasized the significance of safeguarding earth resources. A Science popularization worker from Qijia Culture Museum popularized the relationship between the Qijia Culture, Qijiaping Site and Linxia UNESCO Global Geopark, explained the wisdom of the ancient Qijia people in "Harmony between Human Beings and Nature."

The interactive session included a quiz with rewards covering basic geological knowledge, geological environment protection and geological data. The residents actively participated, creating a lively atmosphere on the spot. At the same time, brochures about Linxia UNESCO Global Geopark and Qijia Culture Museum, as well as pamphlets on the "Regulations on the Prevention and Control of Geological Disasters" and the "Measures for the Prevention and Control of Geological Disasters" were distributed to the public. Participants were also given cultural and creative souvenirs featuring geological landscapes and Qijia Culture elements. Our science popularization staff explained the knowledge of geological disaster prevention and the significance of earth protection in simple and easy-to-understand language, answered the doubts of the public and enhanced their enthusiasm and concerns to the Earth environment.

At the end of the event, all the participants signed on the long scroll with the theme of "Protecting the Earth", committing to practicing the protection of the Earth and advocating a green future. Through the innovative form of "geological science popularization and cultural inheritance", this event not only showcased the unique charm as the "Hometown of Chinese Painted Pottery" and the "Kingdom of Ancient Animal Fossils" of Linxia, but also echoed the theme of the 56th World Earth Day -- Cherish the Earth, Harmony between Human Beings and Nature.
